The last few days have made it very clear why it is imperative to fish the moment on Cheatham Lake especially this time of year. Last week I was catching bass well in Dyson’s Ditch with fish up to seven pounds as well as numerous other keeper sized fish. Last Friday that water temperature was 62 degrees and this Monday after the hard rain and extreme cold it was 52 degrees. Keep in mind that Dyson’s Ditch is relatively shallow because the main lake which is deeper did not really change that much in relation to temperature. I realized this and adjusted my approach and things started instantly improving. If I had not made adjustments I am relatively confident that I would have had very little success. The rest of the week the temperature is supposed to continue to rise so I will be searching for the best pattern based on the conditions all week.
